The” manly butt slap,” where does this butt slap derive from, and why does it maintain its sustainability in the world of sports? I’m starting to think that men are liking the feeling of spandex on their butts. Seeing it that most men do not wear spandex on their normal daily lives. Women usually wear spandex, if not, spandex is commenly found in all women’s under garments. Plus, women did not play sports until much later, so if anything the “sportman butt slap” was created and popularized by men and only men for many years. I do not know exactly when the “butt slap” originated, but it has enlightened the world of sports for female observes for many years. So go team go and slap team slap for our viewing pleasure. Hey, you guys have the skanty commercials. For all the women who drink beer or not while watching sports, enjoy the view.

The high school kids, they never change you know.  Every year the same types of characters appear in the halls ways of every high school in the nation.  These characters have different faces and different life styles, but their personalities are ever present in the hallways.  I have seen the quite girls.  The one that people ask for help, but never invite to the party.  She still wears glasses and wears the outdated styles, but she has the friendliest face.  Also there is the boy that makes everyone laugh, but in his eyes you can see the world of pain, the pain of his home-life.  The pretty girl, the one that every girl talks bad about, out of jealousy, and every boy wants to talk too.  She is still skinny and has the over done makeup with the matching shoes and handbag.  Let’s not forget the strange kid, he and she still wear black and funny shoes.  Their clothes are ratty and their hair unkept, but they always have the answers to hardest questions.  The jock, he still has the nice hair and fashionable clothes, but likes to give the answers to questions even when they are wrong.  He still smiles brightly to teacher when she tells him he is “close” to the answer.  He pays no mind to what others might consider to be an embarrassing situation.  Last but not least the gangster, he or she is still wearing big clothes and dark colors.  They have their small group of friends and walk the halls with confidence.  Yet if you ever look in their eyes you see sadness and fear, I wonder can I stop their drift into gangster isolation.  I have seen all the kids of my past still walking the halls today.  I feel like they were my old high school classmates, and I am helping them in trying to succeed in the world.  I am trying to reach them before some of them slip through the cracks of high school pressure and loneliness.  I want to be their savior.

The struggle, “la lucha,” the fight, and the resolution.  All of use at one time in our lives has undergone some battle.  The fight, I have danced.  I have lost and I have won.  Yet, the struggle persist and continues in another fashion and another context.  Day after day and struggle after struggle we lose some and we win some.  As humans we continue to strive and continue to search for the resolution.  Many people trying to overcome extreme circumstances, they will search for resolution at all costs.  Some people have died for resolution.  My battle is almost won; I have fought and struggled to see the resolution, but now I see do you hear me out there I see…

Las Vegas,

I have not seen you and would like to meet you real soon.  I have seen photos of you in family albums and on advertisements on television.  I am been captivated by your bright character and fun loving disposition.  Some people say that you seem expensive and lavish, and I would not be able to accommodate such grander.  One time I saw you on T.V. and I asked myself why?  Why am I so intrigued by such a place they calledl Sin City?  Is it the lights, music, people, and money.  I have those elements here in the Valley.  Right across the border we have Progresso or what the valley call “Las flores.”  It has lights, music, people, and money.  There are bars, gambling, and fun and many people go to have fun.  Las Flores kinda looks like Las Vegas I mean they have almost the same amount of letters in their title.  Ok maybe there might not be a dancing Elvis but there most certainly be tourists singing elvis songs by midnight.  So why do I want to go to Las Vegas?  Humm good question… maybe it is just the nostalgia surrounding this city of lights.  Will be seeing you Vegas.

-Yours

Gina
